Minolta Precision Engineering was established in 1988 as a sister company of Minolta Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. After the merger with Konica in year 2003,
it is now known as “Konica Minolta Precision Engineering (or KMPE) manufactures key parts for cameras such as lenses, plastic and metal precision
parts, circuit boards as well as moulds/dies. KMPE has engineering staffs that assist in the assembly of cameras by procuring parts and components locally.
The operation at KMPE is supported by an IBM iSeries application called INPACTS MRP which was developed in-house. In 2002, KMPE decided to out-source
its iSeries development work and focus on business process re-engineering to increase its flexibility to respond to changing business needs whilst
industry expertise could be applied to the application enhancement process.
KMPE also knew technology would be a key enabler in the transition to competition and that it was important to find
the right technology partner that could leverage IT to help. Visualogic Resources proposed a comprehensive solution that
meets the highest demand of KMPE that yielded high level results for the overall IT operation of the entire organization.
